HWL have been supplying us with Residence collection windows for a few years now as we don't fabricate them ourselves & we have always been happy with their service & if there are any occasional issues, they always try their best to sort out as quickly as possible.

Had a large job recently consisting of windows and doors in residence 9. Was able to do triple glazing with astragal bar which many other fabricators would not do. Very good job and after care. Spot on
Have been buying frames now for multiple projects from HWL and have to say what a relief it has been to find such an attentitive team!
From sale through to production and delivery, communication and attention to detail has been fully covered.
In the rare occurence of any issues, we have had full and quick support and responses to quickly resolve.
Look forward to working together more with the team at HWL!

I have been dealing with Jack Roby, he is fantastic, quick at replies and has been a pleasure to deal with. thank you jack
Its an absolute please to deal with HWL windows as a whole & Carl, Danny & Chris are equally helpful & knowledgeable in their own way . partnered with Graham for that extra bit of support when needed we wouldn't go anywhere else for residence product's.
Just fitted 26 Residence 9 Windows supplied by HWL. As a first time customer I'm pretty impressed. The sales team were very patient and helpful and the windows are sturdy and well made. I was told that HWL is one of just 2 companies in the UK who've invested in the right equipment to construct these windows properly. I received quotes from both companies but chose HWL because, though the prices weren't dissimilar, the HWL team was more receptive and amenable.
Being picky I'd like to see baypole screws used in the frame assembly rather than the countersunk ones used by HWL (which obviously can't be countersunk into the UPVC profile). Residence themselves advise baypole screws (according to their assembly instructions) and the baypole head would obviously give more grip and result in reduced frame twist but I guess that, now they're installed, this is not going to be a huge problem.
Also the Residence 9 system, which has a frame depth (front to back) of 100mm, appears to use a generic 70mm add on, meaning extra lengths have to be purchased and ripped down by the fitter to make up the missing 30mm, and similarly the cills I purchased as part of the Residence 9 collection are also only designed for a 70mm system. HWL however, supplied an aluminium profile to make up the cill difference on the inside. When buying a quality product it would be nice to have addons and cills made to the correct profile.
Final criticism is of the vents, which are drilled from front to back through all 9 cells. Why pay extra for the additional insulation when you're going to drill through the whole frame and open up the header to cold air circulation? Many will agree that it's a bonkers piece of legislation and that's not down to HWL but circulatory heat loss would be greatly reduced by gluing in a sleeve/collar insert from front to back. I understand Residence has recently come up with a new vent system which looks better but it can't be retro-fitted.
Having done a lot of market research beforehand, in conclusion I'm pleased with the Residence 9 windows and also pleased with HWL. I'll certainly consider them for my next build. See pics below for work in progress on current build (aluminium slide and stack doors supplied by a different company).

As an architect I approached many different glazing companies when sourcing large Aluminium Bi-folds, Doors and Tilt & Turn windows for my own residential conversion project. HWL were a clear winner, their price was very competitive, the products that they proposed were superior and they communicated well throughout the whole process. Thank you to all the team there, I'll certainly be back in touch on future projects!
